New info on german version of sound subcarrier standard: -------------------------------------------------------- "In Spring 2001 I reported some restrictions on several ATV repeaters, reading as following: >The sound subcarrier frequency on RX and TX must not exceed 5,5 MHz. The number of sound subcarriers is limited to one single.< This restriction was new, until that time only the overall bandwidth of a channel had been settled. As for some sysops and users this restriction was needless and a step back in the amateur radio evolution (see initiatives of AGAF and DL1EBQ), I opposed it officially. Today I got the new altered licence document for my ATV repeater (DB0MTV) without the restriction, but with a new instruction with regard to recommendations of IARU: >It is recommended to use 5,5 MHz as sound subcarrier frequency, other subcarriers are permitted as well.< Two days earlier a RegTP staff member told me by phone, that my opposition was accepted, additional subcarriers should be applied for at the RegTP office. So all is settled now, and there are no obstacles to relayed talkback channels, links, control or PR-broadcast subcarriers within the overall channel bandwidth. Thank you for support by many of you! 73 Frank, DD3JI" (from Packet-Radio)
