12 years of AGAF web pages -------------------------- In 1996 webmaster Johannes DL4EBJ of forerunner web pages "ATV at the Niederrhein" wrote to Heinz, DC6MR: "I shall introduce the AGAF and it´s magazine TV-AMATEUR on our ATV pages, they are unexpectedly popular. From all over the world I get e-mail replies several times a week, about 2000 visits are counted already. I am trying to expand the pages, which are building up a notable data base. Mostly I am asked for details about 23 cm ATV transmitters, I could pass on some interesting mails from South America if you like." Manfred DJ1KF in Cologne utilized his close contacts to the editorial staff of the popular TV show "WDR Computer Club" for producing independent amateur radio web pages on their server (the WDR-CC hosts and editors Wolfgang Back and Wolfgang Rudolph pioneered the mass use of telephone mailbox services, BTX the german web forerunner, and Internet in Germany). In 1997 these amateur radio pages were expanded on a new server in Bonn to one of the first DARC district home pages and model for today´s DARC web services. The ATV part got some independence as AGAF homepage under www.yi.com/home/AGAF After a provider bust it was then integrated into the regional DARC web service by the keepers DJ1KF, DO1KXL and DL4KCK. The rising visitor numbers often took it into the best of ten range in the DARC server statistics. For an easier access the unique domain www.agaf.de was aquired some years ago, and after successful development and testing of Digital-ATV boards by a team with Uwe DJ8DW at the Bergische University in Wuppertal a special support web site for this was formed under www.datv-agaf.de Klaus, DL4KCK AGAF e.V.
